Telehealth psychiatric care in Spokane, WA
Progressive Pathways Psychiatry now sees patients in Spokane and Spokane Valley by secure video: psychiatric evaluations and medication follow-ups for teens and adults, without a drive across town or a wait in a lobby.
Quick answer
Spokane residents aged 13 and up can get psychiatric care from Progressive Pathways Psychiatry by secure video. Visits cover evaluation, diagnosis and medication management with a nurse practitioner licensed in Washington. Because the license is a Washington one, you need to be on the Washington side of the state line, not in Idaho, when each visit starts.
Care for Spokane residents
Spokane is the medical center of the Inland Northwest, yet outpatient psychiatric appointments can still be hard to get. The federal government designates several mental health professional shortage areas in Spokane County, including service areas in north and southeast Spokane and a shortage designation for the city's low-income and homeless residents. Many people here also cross into Idaho for work. That matters for telehealth: a Washington license covers you only while you are in Washington, so a visit from a Coeur d'Alene office or a Post Falls job site cannot go ahead.
This page also covers Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake and Cheney.
Seasonal depression in the Inland Northwest
Spokane sits far enough north that December days are short and the light is thin. For some people the dark months bring more than a passing dip: sleeping longer, craving carbohydrates, losing interest in things that usually help. When that pattern returns every winter, it is a form of depression with a seasonal course, and it responds to treatment. An evaluation sorts out whether that is what is happening, and medication management follow-ups keep the plan adjusted as the seasons turn.
Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake and Cheney
This page covers the whole Spokane area, not only the city. Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake and Cheney are all in Washington, so a visit from home in any of them works the same way as one from the South Hill or downtown. The only line that matters is the state line itself: once you are in Idaho, the visit has to wait.

Questions people ask
Frequently asked questions
I live in Spokane but work in Idaho. Can I have my visit from work?
Not from Idaho. The Washington license covers care only while you are physically in Washington, so schedule the visit for a time you are at home or anywhere else on the Washington side. Visits during a lunch break in Spokane or Spokane Valley are fine.
Is there an office in Spokane I can visit?
No. Washington care is by secure video only, so there is no Spokane office and no travel. All you need is a private room and a phone, tablet or computer with a camera.
Who do I call in a mental health crisis in Spokane County?
Call or text 988 any time, or call the Spokane regional crisis line at 1-877-266-1818, which answers around the clock. In an emergency, call 911. The practice is open two days a week and is not a crisis service.
